Can the auto-scheduler prioritize certain jobs to make sure they are filled first?

Yes! You can use the auto-scheduler in passes to make sure that the most important jobs are run first, and then others are filled. This is often used when you have important roles, like a Coach who could also be an Umpire if needed.

1. First, you need to make sure the roles you want to schedule first are their own jobs. In our example, I might have a job of Coach with subdivisions of Teams 1-6. In this case, I will want to go to the Jobs pane in the VSP desktop software and use the "Breakup into separate jobs..." button on the right to separate these out.

2. Now, go to the schedule where you want to schedule your volunteers. Click "Commence Scheduling..." in the upper right.

3. Choose the second option, "All empty positions in just particular jobs..."

In the next box, choose the jobs that you need to be scheduled first. In our example, this would be the Coach from Team 1. You can also select any other jobs that you want to prioritize or ones that would not affect this job (like maybe the Groundskeeper) do not overlap or also need to be prioritized.
